“A town without the knowledge of it's past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots. ”
In the heart of the town and Cinque Port of Sandwich, Kent is the Guildhall Museum, a focal point showcasing the rich and varied history of the town and its environs. The Museum tells the story of Sandwich and the surrounding area from the Mesolithic period through to WW2. The central exhibits are the Magna Carta and Charter of the Forest, but the museum also holds many rare and historic artefacts. Already hailed as a world class museum with internationally important exhibits the museum is destined to become the heritage hub for the area.
